People stop to watch as they arrive at a scene, not understanding the inherent dangers of this profession. They are highly skilled professional fire fighters. Most attend many years of college and hold multiple degrees. They work in the most severe weather 24/7/365 days a year. They deliver babies. Save children from raging waters and choking accidents. They remove our family members from mangled vehicles. Pump out our flooded basements, and perform high angle rescues. They wear and carry 100 lbs. of gear or more, multiple times a day. They raise families. Some have served in our military and some serving as a reservist this weekend. They step up on a daily basis to help any of us that call.
